Queen Mother VideosQueen Elizabeth's face is known and loved throughout the world. What we have seen in one greatly loved and universally admired. These three different newly released videos are available to order online or by phoning us tollfree.
Born on August 4th, 1900, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother has reigned in the hearts of the nation ever since her engagement to Prince Albert in 1923. Since that day she has served her country with unrelenting commitment and faith, playing an enormous role in the stabilization of the monarchy after it was rocked by Edward the VII's abdication, and counseling King and country during World War II, where she shared the rationing, and austerity experienced by all in those hard times. This program traces her extraordinary life; archive film and photographs, an interview with Princess Margaret and reminiscences from her unforeseen Coronation and her tours around the world. Following the death of the King and the Coronation of a new Queen, she continued to play a full part in the new Elizabethan age, pursuing her duties with energy and warmth, taking a new place on the Palace balcony and smiling her way into the hearts of people everywhere. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday March 30th 2002, at Royal Lodge, Windsor. She will be greatly missed. Released in 2002, this video is 90 minutes long and narrated by Richard Baker. ORDER $24.99
Of all the Royals, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother seemed to have a soft spot for Canada, and she, in turn, was embraced by Canadians. She was quoted as saying "I lost my heart to Canada and Canadians, and my feelings have not changed with the passage of time." It was here in Canada that Queen Elizabeth invented the royal walk-about. And it was a Canadian reporter who first called her the Queen Mum, and before long, the world took up the title. From King George VI's and Queen Elizabeth's first triumphant tour of 1939 - the Royal couple's first foreign tour - until the 1989 tour that marked the 50th anniversary of her first visit, the Queen Mum visited Canada 11 times. We look back at those tours and meet the Canadians - hosts, members of the media, soldiers and veterans, flower girls and politicians - who were touched by her charm, her easy manner, her sense of humor, her dignity and humanity. Included in this video is the poignant Eulogy for the Queen Mother, delivered by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada during the Service of Remembrance at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa, April 9, 2002. Running Time Approx. 50 minutes. Produced by the CBC. ORDER $24.99
Narrated by David Niven "Icon of the Century"; "The Nation's favorite grandmother"; "The richest jewel in the Royal Family's crown" - these are just some of the many tributes that have been bestowed upon the Queen Mother. She was the longest-living British Royal in memory who witnessed some of the most significant developments and historical moments of the last century. When she was born, the British Army was fighting its fast great imperial war in South Africa, air planes had not yet flown, and gas lamps had not been replaced by electric lighting. Born with the century, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, lived a life that symbolizes the lives of millions in Britain and in the land of which she was so recently Queen Empress. It opens in the gardens of Clarence House, her London home. But enthralling historic film footage soon makes us realize that the unpredictable saga of Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon reflects the life and times of the whole Western world. It is doubtful that any member of the Royal Family ever generated as much affection and loyalty as this great and gracious lady. Nor any narrator could portray her - from Edwardian schoolgirl to stately and vigorous widow more feelingly. Program time 53 minutes. ORDER $24.99
