Garden in Provence
Relive the languid days and romantic nights that
typify life in the south of France. The sounds of a magnificent seaside garden in Provence
set the stage for classical music inspired by the great French impressionists. An
assortment of blackbirds, nightingales, wrens and orioles, recorded with stunning clarity
by Dan Gibson, welcome the listener to a sublime sojourn of peace and rest. The music is
light and impressionistic, often showing influences of works from composers like Debussy
and Satie. "Sunrise in Provence," for example, calls to mind a lazy afternoon in
a sun-drenched botanical garden on the outskirts of Marsailles and, at times, is
reminiscent of Debussy's "Reverie." Music composed and arranged by John
Herberman. Nature sounds digitally recorded by John Paterson & Dan Gibson.
Program time is 56:12 with nine tracks.
