'Recitations from an East Coast Kitchen'by Eric MacEwen
For close to 40 years, Eric MacEwen of Prince Edward Island has introduced the music of Eastern Canada to hundreds of thousands of people throughout Canada and the United States. His weekly radio program is still heard throughout Atlantic Canada, bringing pleasure and pride to his loyal listeners. Eric MacEwen was a proponent of East Coast music long before it entered the more popular mainstream. He has helped bring many artists throughout the region to the attention of a larger audience. His enthusiasm and energy and his unwavering support are recognized as one of the reasons East Coast music has achieved the status it enjoys today. The Eric MacEwen Show, on CJCB, was devoted exclusively to 'our'
music and would be heard on stations along the east coast as well as in Ontario and parts
of the US. Eric exposed the burgeoning talents of The Rankins, Rita MacNeil, Natalie
MacMaster, Lennie Gallant, Ron Hynes, the Barra MacNeils, and literally hundreds of
others. He is a founding member and former chair of the East Coast Music Association. 'Recitations from an East Coast Kitchen' contains 17 tracks recited by Eric containing his reflections of Maritime wisdom combined with prose and verse emplifying our Island and east coast culture. Some authors read are L. M. Montgomery, Milton Acorn, Alfred Tennyson and many more. Program time is 43:58. Available in cassette only.
